Teriyaki Chicken Recipe |
Aside from fish, other countries also use other meat products like pork, beef, lamb and chicken. The teriyaki sauce can practically complement any type of fish and meat product.
The Teriyaki Chicken has found its way into the palates of the Filipinos because it is easy to prepare and the taste is quite unique with its tinge of sweetness. If you can’t find some of the ingredients and for convenience, you can use bottled teriyaki sauce which are sold in supermarkets. The best chicken part for this dish is either the thigh or the legs with the skin on.
In this recipe, the chicken is grilled instead of frying it. The grilling adds a little smoky flavor which further enhances the taste of the dish.
Preparation Time: 10 mins
Cooking Time: 30 mins
Yield: 4 servings
Ingredients:
1 lb chicken, cut into pieces with skin on
4 tbsp soy sauce
4 tbsp mirin
3 tbsp sake
1 tbsp honey
1/2 tsp ginger, grated
diced green bell pepper, sliced onion leaves or toasted sesame seeds (for garnishing)
Cooking Directions:
1. In a mixing bowl, combine together the chicken pieces, soy sauce, mirin, sake, honey and ginger. Mix all the ingredients well. Cover and leave in the fridge for at least an hour or for better flavor, preferably overnight.
2. Remove the chicken pieces from the marinade and set aside.
3. Heat a small pan and pour in the marinade. Bring to a boil and let it simmer for about 5 minutes or until the sauce thickens.
4. Heat up the grill and arrange the chicken pieces with the skin side down, and grill until the skin starts to crisp up. Turn them over and continue grilling until the other side is done.
5. Transfer the chicken to a serving dish and pour the sauce over it. Top with your desired garnishing.
6. Serve hot with steamed rice.
7. Enjoy!
